Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a professional colouring and a supermarket colouring?
Professional dyes are formulated to ensure precise and long-lasting results, with active ingredients designed to protect the hair structure during the coloring process. They are designed to be used by professionals who can evaluate the diagnosis of the hair, choose the right shade and manage dilution times and ratios based on the desired result. Large-scale retail colours, on the other hand, are formulated for standardised use and do not allow the same level of customisation and control over the final result.
What is vegan coloring and what does it mean in terms of formulation?
A vegan dye does not use substances of animal origin or GMOs. It is also often characterized by a reduced risk of irritation, thanks to the replacement of potentially allergenic components — such as PPD — with better-tolerated alternatives. Vitality’s has developed Zero Colour in this direction, its vegan colour with a high natural index (80-83%), ammonia-free and with PTD instead of PPD: according to a study by Northwestern University Medical Center, 57% of patients allergic to PPD tolerate PTD colours.
What does "naturalness index" mean in a professional color?
The naturalness index indicates the percentage of ingredients of natural origin or derivation present in the formula of a product, calculated through objective criteria and indicators established by the ISO 16128 standard. It is an increasingly important parameter in the choice of professional products, both for those looking for formulations that are more respectful of the hair and for those who are attentive to sustainability. Vitality’s applies this criterion to its colors: Zero Colour has a naturalness index between 80% and 83%, Heart between 86% and 89%.
What are the main Vitality's professional coloring lines?
The three flagship lines of Vitality’s colourway are Heart, Zero Colour and Mix&Match, each with a different philosophy and use. Heart is the permanent coloring that strengthens while coloring, available in 58 shades. Zero Colour is the vegan permanent colour, ammonia-free and with a high natural index, also designed for those with skin sensitivity problems. Mix&Match, on the other hand, is the tone-on-tone colour with an acidic pH with a gloss effect, not lightening, ideal for toning and customising the result on the lengths. Three different answers for three different needs, all within the same professional range.
